Nitrous Oxide (N2O) is a colorless, asphyxiant gas that is commonly known as laughing gas. It is only slightly soluble in water and is produced by the thermal decomposition of ammonium nitrate. It forms explosive mixtures with air. Its main uses are as an anaesthetic and as a propellant.
