Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2) is a red-brown, nonflammable gas that at room temperature can also exist in a liquid form. It is highly toxic and is classified as one of the major air pollutants. It is obtained by the oxidation of nitric oxide. Its main uses are as an oxidizing and nitrating agent and in the production of nitric acid.
