Aluminum Oxide (Al2O3) or alumina is a naturally occurring compound that is a constituent of a variety of minerals (corundum, rubys bauxite, etc.). It is a white, nontoxic powder of high melting point (2303 K) and its molecular weight is 101.96. It is insoluble in water and only sparingly soluble in strong acids or alkalis.
