Flow rate

The quantity of fluid passing through a given flow cross section per unit time interval.
Comments. 1. If the flow rate varies with time, the term "mean flow rate" is used when referring the quantity of fluid to a finite time interval.
2. A distinction is made between "volumetric flow rate" and "mass flow rate."
