Trichloroethane (CH3CCl3) is a colorless, inflammable liquid that is insoluble in water. It is obtained from vinyl chloride. It is the least toxic of the chlorinated solvents. Its usage has been dramatically decreased in recent years because of its ozone depletion potential, although it is still used in the vapor degreasing of metals.
