The Fahrenheit degree (named after German physicist G.D. Fahrenheit, 1686-1736) is the unit of temperature (designated by °F) which is equal to 1/180 part of temperature interval between the points of ice melting (32°F) and of water boiling (212°F) at normal atmospheric pressure. Thus, TC = (TF – 32)/1.8, where TC is the temperature in °C, and TF is the temperature in °F (see Figure 1).
